Pastor Tom’s call to ministry is to “share the love of Christ.” Over the years, God has refined this calling to “share the love of Christ and His kingdom in word and deed with all people.” This calling is now reflected in his desire to lead a Christ-centered church family that is multicultural, multilingual, intergenerational, and missionally driven to share Christ’s love.

Pastor Tom is returning to his home church, the Boston Chinese Evangelical Church (BCEC), after serving as the East Lexington Campus Pastor at Grace Chapel for eight years. BCEC is where he first trusted Christ as his Savior and Lord, called into ministry and ordained, met and married his wife Edna, baptized their three sons, and joyfully served for nearly three decades. He helped plant and served at BCEC’s Newton Campus as the English Pastor for 13 years and, prior to that, served at the Chinatown Campus for 15 years in roles including English Youth Pastor, College Pastor, Small Group & Family Pastor, and “XO” Worship Pastor.

Pastor Tom is a graduate of Tufts University (Chemical Engineering), Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Bible Certificate), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), and, most recently, Talbot School of Theology (Doctor of Ministry).

In addition to pastoral ministry, Pastor Tom is active in the community. He recently completed his term on the board of a local food pantry, Arlington EATS and was instrumental in establishing the Fellowship of Asian American Ministers and Ministries, as well as the Boston Chinatown Coalition. He has also served on the Gordon-Conwell Boston Campus Advisory Board, the Chinatown Safety Committee, and the Lower Washington Street Safety Committee.

Tom and his high school sweetheart, Edna, have been married since 1987. They are blessed with three adult sons, two of whom are married. Edna worked as a loan officer at the Bank of Boston for 15 years before sensing a call to more direct kingdom ministry. Since 2001, she has been teaching fourth grade in Bedford Public Schools. Together, Tom and Edna enjoy spending time with their extended family, practicing hospitality, hiking, bike riding, and traveling.

Pastor Tom and Edna are humbled and honored to return home to serve the church and community that have nurtured them all their lives.
